Offering more money to educators in an unsafe and unhealthy environment will not bring better staff. "I have recently been able to enjoy an OSHA inspection, yes you read this correctly. For over 10 years I worked closely with Apex Online Development and created a data center and web based training system to comply with MN Dept of Education policy letters and Statute. This past September, a representative of Dept. of Labor and Industry/DOLI, Occupational Safety and Health Administration/OSHA spent over two hours at my computer reading plans, reviewing the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documents, and verifying completed staff training certificates.Her comments included: "I've never seen anyone with this..." along with a few "Wow's". In short, no citations were issued for any written plan deficiency or training shortfalls in the 22 different health and safety related plans or modules put together within the Wayzata ISD 284 Total Program which included Building and Grounds, Culinary Express/Food Services, Fine Arts, Life Sciences, Industrial Technology, and Special Education Departments. Our district information is now available electronically within The Total Program and is customized towards compliance with MN Dept of Education policies and MN Statute 123B.57. I am beginning to create data bases for sampling records including lead in water, fume hood testing, IAQ surveys, radon, etcetera for whomever may wish to review data in the future. It's all in one location, one wonderful product worth every hour and every dollar."
